Legend of Korra Action Figure Concept Art: Korra by TiggerCustoms Legend of Korra Action Figure Concept Art: Korra by TiggerCustoms
Iím going to be making custom action figures from The Legend of Korra since I donít see that any companies are producing any and a complete lack of Korra figures is just unacceptable. This concept art is mainly to get the design and articulation scheme on paper to aid me during sculpting. This will be 6Ē scale like the figures from the Last Airbender cartoon years ago. This will have better articulation than those figures so it can be put into more dynamic poses.

Let me apologize for the somewhat poor drawings. Drawing isnít really my thing but I just did what I could. Much better at making figures I think.

Anyways, let me know if you like the idea and actually want to see this action figure completed. Iíll probably complete it regardless but if there is a lot of interest and people are pushing me to get it finished, it will probably be completed a lot faster. If this Korra figure turns out halfway decent Iíll go ahead and do some others as well.

EDIT: Got the first Korra WIP uploaded.

EDIT: And a second WIP.

Hi I would like to commend the person who is making the Korra figure. I believe there are a lot of little girls(looking for a female super hero)that would like to have one including my granddaughter who is 5 years old and is a huge fan of Korra. I came across your website through my daughter(the mother of the 5 year old)and we both agree that my granddaughter would be over joyed to see a Korra action figure as well as to get one of her very own. I just wanted to comment and let you know that it's great to see that someone with your talent who has acknowledged little girls who would love to have a female super hero.

Thank you. I agree that it's a shame no toy companies picked up the Korra license to produce figures.  There need to be more female heroes in figure form.

Damn I wish I could do this rather than just repainting and mix-matching limbs.

Then again I also wish I could handle drawing feet. :/

It's just a lot of practice. If you use old figure parts and keep customizing, you'll get better in no time

Soon! It's hard to find time to work on customs with all my other commitments :(

I've got it mostly in pieces so you guys may have to imagine how it looks all pieced together :P

Commitments more important than Korra!? Blasphemy! D:< lol

Was looking at Gen more closely for Korra, I still think it would work great but the torso definitely needs to be switched out, then you'd have to match up the new torso with the pelvis/legs, arggg...

Also, finally saw the LOK series, I think the DCUC torso really does look almost exactly like the cartoon model, good choice

I've been thinking of making Toph or Lin Bei Fong, have to practice sculpting clothing first though! Lots of folds and wrinkles >_<

Gen's lower half would be a good start but I'm making my custom 100% accurate. Like down the smallest details like the same wrinkles/folds that Korra's pants have in the official turnaround [link]

I just had to do some reshaping and minor sculpting to a DCUC female torso. The lower half of the torso actually got a full layer of apoxie over it to get the shape just right but the upper half had less external work done.

You should do Toph! I've actually got a custom started of her but its in the veeery early stages. All I did was piece together parts that will make a good base.

Sounds good, would be neat to see a super accurate figure. :) I tend to add little details to figures by compulsion even if they aren't needed, for example I'd tatter/jaggify the white edges of the shirt's arm holes. I blame Ryu for that lol

Tooooopphhhhhhh! ...I don't have any figure small enough for her xD Guess I could find a Sakura to chop up.

Found these customs [link] Pretty cool (though I like making them a little more realistic). Do you know if the old Avatar figure heads would look good on 6 inch bodies?

Size wise, the heads from the Mattel Airbender figures are fine but they just have that cartoony look to them and would look weird on a realistic looking body.

I'm the opposite of you :P I try to do everything in my power to make customs accurate to the smallest details. I love those customs. I've been dying to have a complete Team Avatar from Last Airbender!

the articulations pint are perfect, but I think the feets are really small, you going to made it in that scale or you think have to make bigger?

Hmm.. feet do look a bit small in this drawing. I'm sculpting the feet right now and they don't look out of scale on the actual figure

I'd love to make as many of the main characters as I can but I still haven't even finished Korra's sculpt yet so who knows how long it will take! :P

I want all the figures to have lots of articulation like this if the character design allows for it. Lin would be really tough because of the shoulder design and the skirt flaps that would restrict leg movement though.

well wat r u using 4 joint movement
like the classic ball joints, or like revoltech joints

Most of the joints are ball and socket or hinge joints like the picture shows but the shoulders will be clasic ball joints like the shoulders of a Marvel Legend of DC Universe figure.

Heh, the torso looks a lot like the DCUC female torsos, might be a good place to start.

Or maybe the Ibuki Street Fighter (by SOTA) figure would work better

You've got a great eye.. :D I thought about both of those and some other parts but ended up modifying a DCUC female torso. That looks similar enough to the joints on the Avatar figures

Yeah, I've been staring at DCUC Hawkgirl long enough to recognize it anywhere lol

I think Gen would work better than Ibuki for the pants, they're less puffy and Gen already has a pliable skirt piece you can work with. Plus, I think you can get Gen for cheaper than Ibuki since female figures tend to be sold for more money online for some stupid reason.

Thought about using his legs or knees at least but I went with sculpting some from scratch instead. I'd have to dremel the heck out of Gen's legs and not sure double knees would look right on Korra after toying with the idea. Maybe I'll post a pic of my progress so far :D

The skirt piece is giving me trouble though. I think I'll have to sculpt it from scratch and mold/cast it in a softer plastic

Oh please make LoK toys! I have searched for news about them and nothing came up accept for something on tumblr talking about McDonalds was going to come out with some but I doubt it. This Korra figure looks like it'd be perfect even if you don't thinki so I'm pretty sure everyone will! So please make some!

This Korra will be the first of at least a few if the actual figure turns out decent enough. It really is a shame no companies have picked up the license to make Korra merchandise

Yeah, Mattel really dropped the ball on the Airbender line. They didn't produce the figures that people wanted and had poor sales as a result. The movie line by Spinmaster that didn't sell well thanks to the god awful movie certainly hasn't reassured many toy companies that an Avatar related toy line can do well.

I'll keep my watchers updated with any info regarding this project :)
