Custom Commissions

I occasionally take commissions for figures and toys but since I work in many different styles, scales, and with different figures, the prices vary wildly. For an estimate of how much a commission would cost you, either send me a note here or email me with what you want made. Please include the character, size/scale of the figure you want, and how much articulation you want in it when inquiring about commissions. I take payment in the form of paypal or money orders only.

Watchers

As you all may or may not know, the 2013 New York International Toy Fair is taking place right now.  That is a show primarily for toy companies and retailers so that new and upcoming products can be shown off.  Of course, toy collectors love the show too since many pics of future toy releases are put online.  I was mainly interested in Jazwares' Adventure Time, Sonic, and Mortal Kombat lines and also very interested in Hasbro's Marvel Legends line.  Hasbro had a great showing with several cool figures coming in a few months but Jazwares didn't show much at all.

On the Adventure Time front, no new 5" figures were shown but there are new Finn and Jake figures with new accessories coming soon apparently.  The sad news (well, for me at least) is that the Adventure Time line will shift from being focused on the 5" figures to being a 3" focused line.  There are several comic packs (Two 3" articulated figures and a comic per pack) planned that will be similar to the ones for the Sonic line.  While I'm happy that new AT products will be coming out, I think I may have to throw in the towel with collecting them.  I already have all the 5" figures and I don't want to spend a lot of time, effort, and money in collecting the upcoming 3" figures. I'll still finish the customs that I have in various stages (Cake, Fionna in Cake Suit, and Lemongrab) but I'm not sure if I'll be making any more after that.  My motivation just went down a lot since most of the new figures Jazwares will be releaseing will be in the 3" scale.

As for Sonic, there weren't any new products shown aside from a 5" Sonic that includes a couple chaos emeralds.  There is news of new Sonic 3" figures with vehicles (probably for All Star Racing Transformed), a new 2" PVC figure set, and 3" 'Morphed' figures (whatever those will be).  Interestingly enough, the figures planned for the "Morphed" line include Classic Sonic, Classic Tails, and Classic Metal Sonic.  Hopefully the Classic Metal from the Classic Collector's 5 Pack will get a single release with better paint apps. Still, it was very disappointing to not see any new 3" figures.  I was REALLY hoping to see if Jazwares would be making 3" Rouge or Classic Knuckles figures.  I'm planning customs of those two but had stopped working on them in anticipation of Toy Fair news because the worst thing is getting pretty far along on a custom and then finding out that the company is making a figure of that very character. So I should now be getting back to working on 3" Rouge the Bat!

Also in Jazwares news, or lack of, there weren't any new Mortal Kombat figures shown.  There is a packaged 6" Reptile figure in the display but we've seen that figure before and it has never been released so who knows if it will now.  There are also rumors flying around that the Mortal Kombat line is dead.  Hopefully this isn't the case but then again, there weren't any new products shown and unlike the Sonic and Adventure Time Lines, no news of upcoming figures was released.  Again, I've got a few Mortal Kombat customs planned but was waiting to see what was shown at Toy Fair before continuing further along with them but now with the line looking like it may be dead, my motivation to finish those has dropped significantly.

Guess it's time to get back to work on the Korra figure and the Rouge the Bat figure since my Sonic display is in dire need for one!

What's the material you usually use for your customs and such?
Sorry if this has been asked on other pages, every time I try to go back it just refreshes the page...

No problem. What are you wanting to know about specifically? For sculpting I use Aves Apoxie or Aves Fixit and for painting I use a variety of paints.

Just the sculpting part, I keep thinking about making me a custom pair of Megaman Zero styled headphones, and I wasn't sure what material to use to make it look smooth.

Thanks!

Okay, so yeah I use the two mediums I mentioned. I smooth out as much as I can with water before it dries and after it is fully dried, I sand the crap out of it until it is smooth.
Good luck!
